Zero 7 has done a very good job of staying relevant ever since their debut album was released back in 2001. More recently, we've heard the British duo embrace a style consisting largely of electronic, disco, and house, but now they've returned with a brand-new single, "Last Light", which presents a beautifully delicate new side of their sound. The song's structure is quite unique here, and rather than having clear-cut segments with specifically predominant and subdued sounds, the track is more of a flowing stream with piano, guitar, violins, and electronic elements all smoothly weaving in and out of focus. Singing atop this interesting musical foundation could be tricky, but José González, who just released a fantastic new album titled Vestiges and Claws, does an exceptional job of fitting his tranquil vocals to the song's free-flowing style, and we think you'll like his efforts as much as us. Rumor has it that Zero 7 is planning to release a new album in the fall, but first, their next EP, E.P.3., will be made available for purchase on vinyl March 30 and digitally on April 13 through Make Records.
