Young Yeller is the appellation of Brooklyn musician Jesse Brickel, who has taken time out of his schedule as the touring keyboard player for Chrome Sparks to write and record his own music. With a B.M. in Classical Percussion from NYU and further studies in composition under his belt, he certainly has the credentials to create great music, and after listening to "War", we can safely say he has nailed it. Brickel's vocals echo over the sparse, ominous scenery on "War", and are sustained until the chorus is marched in with throbbing percussion. Young Yeller then uses everything in his arsenal to create a foreboding atmosphere that effectively captures the choral sentiment "If ever there's a war, I'll go". "War" will be the opening track from Young Yeller's debut self-titled LP which is due to be released early next year, and we can't wait to hear what else he has in store. Until that time, though, listen to the great offering of his below.
