Young Summer struck gold last year with her hit single, "Waves That Rolled You Under", and the response to that track was better than what most new artists experience in their whole career. Granted, the song was a great piece of pop, so it goes without saying that she's followed it up with other great music, building some considerable buzz for her debut album, SIREN (set to drop August 26th) in the process. In preparation for that, she's released a beautiful music video for her latest single, "Taken", and it's the perfect visual accompaniment to her light and airy style of synth-pop. The piece is filled with expansive shots of barren landscapes, and, after watching, you'll have to appreciate the way she was able to accurately replicate, with a visual medium, the feeling you get when listening to her work. The first part of the video was filmed in Bryce Canyon, Utah, and the second half of the video was shot on the side of a desolate road on the way to the original intended video location (the famous Arches National Park). As it turns out, the new impromptu set up for the back end of the video works great with the music, and it's got an arid quality to it which enhances the song, really working well with her big voice. Oftentimes, music videos can drag on if they don't have a particularly developed story, or if they rely too heavily on the cinematography to carry it though, but this little piece of film is quite mesmerizing, and will have you completely absorbed from start to finish.
