We just covered Young Summer's music video for "Taken" a bit ago, but she's already put out a new single, and ever since her hit track "Waves That Rolled You Under" came out, it's been full speed ahead for the up-and-coming pop star. "Siren" builds on the theme that Summer's cultivated with her previous tracks, and for somebody who's still relatively new to the game, she has an astoundingly strong command of her signature sound. Already, we're hearing elements of deft production work pop up here and there in each song, and these common threads throughout her work will serve her well when more and more people start taking notice. "Siren" comes off as a very synth-driven track, but when you take a more careful listen, you'll notice that Summer's incorporated a lot of analog instrumentation into the mix. She's done this quite seamlessly, in fact, and the effortless blend of electronic and traditional makes for a final product that will not only grab your ears, but get you on the hook for many more plays in the future. The additional drums are quiet and soft around the edges, but they're filled in with a ton of great auxiliary textures, so the music doesn't sound hollow or half-baked. This is quality stuff you're listening to. Young Summer has established herself as a name to watch out for in the near future, and despite her rather niche sound, it looks as if she's really starting to pick up steam. Her music has already made converts out of hardcore music junkies and casual listeners alike, and this diverse mix of fans has created a great foundation for her to work off of in the future. With so much going for her already, she's making all the right moves by providing us with a steady stream of quality material, and if she stays on this course, it's only up from here.
