We’ve been obsessing over New York duo Yellerkin’s “Tools” since we first reported on it a few weeks ago, and we were sure it would rake in copious amounts of listens after disseminating a bit (it has). Now, we've an accompanying video that redirects us into the more psychedelic and quirky side of the pair, adding to our captivity. Adrian Galvin and Luca Buccellati (Yellerkin) prove to be ever-talented as they show off their yoga skills in a superimposed and contrasting visual that’s rooted in a place very special to the two: their hometown, as reported by Noisey. Just about the entirety of the piece is shot in the dark, and this fosters the use of mind-bending effects that experiment with a multitude of lighting angles and kaleidoscopic hues. At first, we wondered how the off-the-wall nature of the video coordinated with the track, but then we came to realize it wholly bridges the gaps in transition between the rather distinctive segments of the song. The pair contort their bodies while donning colorful garb during the more lively sections of the effort, and they step to prominence in front of the camera voicing their lines with straight faces as the underlying beat subsides and the vocals come center stage. In the end, the visuals significantly up our already-lofty opinions of the two, and we can pretty much guarantee that this won’t be the last track (or video) of theirs to appear on the site.
