Desire

You may notice that we’ve taken a liking to just about the entirety of London electro-pop trio Years & Years’ discography, a perpetual trend that makes its next stop here with the group’s “Desire,” a fresh single release. The trio’s doubled-up, reverbed voices conglomerate at first into a distinctive harmony that’s to be highly praised before purely euphoric dance-flavored synths find their way to the surface. The synths are accompanied by off-and-on cymbals and kicker bars that fill the percussive niche of the work, and the coming together of all the elements makes for a pleasurable listen indeed. The only way to understand the depth of the aforementioned vocal reverbs and their razor-sharp backing in “Desire” is to give the effort a few listens in non-distracting conditions, allowing your brain to strip the red tape and soak the feelings as a whole, opening new doors between the parts of the track. We definitely applaud the group’s energy and very blatant motivation to reel the listener in with a delicate touch (especially on the vocals)—then completing the deal with utterly livening synths—and they’ll (Years) remain frequent flyers here on HD if they keep reaching two hands out to grab us with their catchy tones. "Desire" will be released on iTunes on November 24th through Polydor.
