If you're craving some brand-new material, then you're in luck, because Berlin-based artist YATES is here with just that. He uploaded his debut single, "MAKO", to YouTube a few days ago, and with only a promotional Facebook page, it's safe to say that the guy is pretty undiscovered. With that being said, though, his hard-hitting and still infectiously smooth blend of R&B and pop suggests he's no stranger to making music, because his sound is absolutely phenomenal. YATES' silky vocals are certainly one of our favorite aspects of the song we're highlighting here, but the foundation that they gloss over is a synth-laden, bass-heavy beat that we're equally impressed by. YATES takes a fairly minimalistic approach on the track, and in doing so, he strengthens the effect of each individual instrument that's used. We've been loving all the downtempo R&B that's been released lately, and if YATES can keep up the kind of quality work expressed on his inaugural offering here, then this certainly won't be his first and only visit to HD pages.
