OK, so Yakamoto Kotzuga isn't from Japan. He isn't even from the Asian continent. He is from Venice, Italy... and his real name is Giacomo Mazzucato. Who saw that one coming?! Misdirection aside, we really don't care where you come from or what you decide to call yourself as long as your music is incredible, and this young Venetian is producing some of the most stimulating tunes around right now. Having recently released his excellent "Lost Keys & Stolen Kisses" EP back in the beginning of October (which is available at his Bandcamp page), Yakamoto has just dropped a brand new single called "Your Smell". With an array of influences from XXYYXX to Shlohmo, Yakamoto Kotzuga traverses the downtempo electronic landscape with ease. Lo-fi synths, and a deep, buzzing bellow of a bass track are all crafted around twitchy percussions to sculpt a wistfully tender lullaby that lingers long after each listen.
