It's our honor to introduce Y . O . U, a brand new artist hailing from Manchester. With a brilliant name (that actually stands for Your Own Universe), Y . O . U describes his music as a mixture of 80's synth pop, nu disco, and house (a combination that already shows promise), and our first taste of his work shows just that. From the very start, "Heavy Crowns" is different; a series of oddly effected vocal chops introduce the piece, but they're quickly matched with melodic piano and an infectious bassline. The sound is brought together by Elliott Williams' engaging vocals, which emit wisdom through his symphonic, lyrical style. The great number of elements in the song are remarkable, but how perfectly they come together is even more amazing; the 80's drum, the distorted bass, and the grandiose trumpet coalesce marvelously; and after only this first release from Y . O . U, we're already craving more.
