Bursting onto the scene fairly recently, #XI has had us absorbed in their sound quite effortlessly, and as they drop their fifth piece, “Pockets”, there wouldn't be a better time to get acquainted with their peerless, alternative indie-electronic. Even though #XI recently dropped a downright sensual cover of Love Inc., we've been awaiting a solo effort from the act, and “Pockets” has delivered in every aspect we'd hoped. Echoing vocals commence the piece in a large, anthemic manner, and as heavy snares project the environment, the hard-hitting kicks add even more energy into the intro. A darker, more trap-like atmosphere unfolds on the piece afterwards, with reverberating vocals and tantalizing breaks giving it an unusual, but highly intriguing ambiance. The oscillation from the shadow-casting synths, to the piercing, distant vocals make “Pockets” a very tempting piece to immerse yourself into, and we're hoping for more of the kind to roll off the Canadians creative direction in future efforts of theirs.
#XI.
