You may or may not be familiar with the Brisbane three-piece, MTNS, a group we've seen seen before on HD pages with a remix from M-Phazes, and you're going to be even less familiar with the group's manager, Wyatt, who we're seeing release his debut, self-titled EP today amidst a hiatus from the former act (perhaps as a result of his own musical endeavor here), but either way, it's the music we're after (not the one's behind it), and Wyatt is indeed a project worth exploring. On the five-track body of work, we're privy to several downtempo, indie-electronic environments, and while they won't blow away ardent fans of the sound, they'll surely satisfy. From the piano-driven, beat-bolstered "Places" (our favorite track), to the more emotional, sincere sonic bit of "Attention" (another preferred cut), to the more upbeat "Youtube" (the final of our three tracks listed below), Wyatt shows for itself a passionate sound that feels like it's been some time in the making. Perhaps that's the case, and perhaps it isn't, but we're enjoying the work—and what understated-but-enjoyable ambiance it invites us into—all the same. Stream all of Wyatt HERE.
