Covering a song properly is a tough ordeal, since the artist must figure out how to implement their own style while also respecting the original. However, WILDE seems to have this whole cover thing down, because their first ever release, a cover of Jennifer Lawrence's "The Hanging Tree", was absolutely and utterly fantastic, and now, the Toronto-based trio is back with two more excellent ones to share (and a peak of a new original, as well). Firstly, WILDE interprets Ellie Goulding's smash hit, "Love Me Like You Do", from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, and with the brilliant new release, we're beginning to understand that Wilde's infectious style is blueprinted by smooth synths, fresh percussion, and alluring female vocals. Next, Wilde takes on Hozier's "Take Me To Church", and this time around, they put on a darker but still enjoyable tint. About halfway through the piece, we hear it transition to some new original material from Wilde titled "Temple", an interlude from their upcoming EP. Though there are plenty of artists out there making cheap covers merely for publicity, we can assure you that WILDE's electronic remakes have been consistently great. They've gotten us incredibly excited to hear more of their original work, and hopefully that all will not be too far down the line. (Our fingers are crossed.)
