Folk music has been around since humans discovered we could sit around a fire and bang rocks or sticks together to make music while grunting and whistling, but folk-pop has really only started to emerge as a genre in and of itself within the last decade or so. The case could probably be made that Of Monsters and Men popularized folk-pop to the masses, and now in the same vein of happy-go-luck folk tunes that anyone and everyone can enjoy comes Wild Child and their first single "Crazy Bird" from their upcoming album The Runaround. These guys are simply infectious, there's no other word for it. "Crazy Bird" checks off everything on the folk-pop list - whistling, violin/fiddle, banjo, off-kilter upbeat strumming and drums, male and female vocalists playing perfectly off each other, the list goes on and on. Basically what I'm getting at is these guys are good, really good, and are going to be all over the airwaves soon, mark my words. You'll find yourself whistling along before you know it, a smile on your lips and your finger on the repeat button. Make sure to give these guys a chance, whether you're a folk fan or not.
