Originally released last year, "Darklands" was one of Whilk and Misky's defining debut moments, but now seeing its rerelease on their SoundCloud this morning, it's time to pay our respects for it by reposting it properly, because if you've yet to hear what the UK duo has to offer, a track like this one is perhaps their brightest piece to engage yourself into. For us, "Darklands" is the quintessential sound for Nima and Charlie (Whilk and Misky). The way they keep things slightly dark, but shine bits of pop and funk on the mix is completely unique. The resulting vibe is one that is a bit raw in its aftertaste, admittedly, but the songwriting sensibilities within make it unforgettable and will no doubt cause singalong sessions for all those who happen to cross its path. We can't wait to hear what their future work holds on the back of the effort, and until they release their debut EP, The First Sip, (cover pictured above), we're going to allow "Darklands" to build some anticipation.
