Whilk and Misky have proved to be a bit of an attractive enigma thus far. The duo made a splash last year with their remix of Chris Malinchak‘s “So Good To Me”, as well as with the 100,000-play-reaching (and unbelievable good, we might add) original, "Darklands", and a few months after that, we saw the pair release the absolutely fascinating "Man's World" that was then followedfour months later with a remix of Rudimental's Becky Hill-featuring "Powerless". Up until today, though, we had no news of an official release. However, offering us a glimpse of what appears to be a debut EP for the lads is Zane Lowe, who's summoning his "next hype" label to the latest track from W&M, "Clap Your Hands". As we've heard in the past, the London-based duo loves to hover around the acoustic-themed, down-to-earth sound, but what makes them special is their infusion of an electronic-house flair that's audibly visible on the aforementioned "Mans World" and "Darklands". Now, we don't always hear the guys implementing that crossover sound, but on "Clap Your Hands", it's again apparent and enjoyable as ever. Led by Spanish-influenced guitar chords, hand claps (of course), and a barely comprehensible whistling sound, we're hearing a sound that's within the folk realm, but at the same, with such sensibilities that give it that extra catch factor. So while we're not sure when to be expecting more official, aggrandizing works from the two known as Whilk and Misky, based on what we're hearing here with their newest, there's a damn good chance more music is going to follow sooner rather than later.
