Birmingham-born Wesley Joseph makes music that sounds like it was recorded at dusk and played back in a dream. 'COLD SUMMER' rides a chopped vocal sample and a shuffling drum loop that never quite resolves, which is the right move. His voice sits somewhere between spoken word and R&B and he uses the negative space as deliberately as the notes he actually hits.
