It’s been exactly two weeks since we probed deeply into The Code’s debut album, 1|11, and what you’d least expect is any pristine work from the act for at least a bit of time, but the diligent duo has retreated back to their studio and thoroughly aerated a piece by We Were Evergreen entitled “Best Thing”. Now, The Code's familiar R&B-fortified electronic scent isn’t detectable on this revamp, but the two’s subtle, buoyant nature certainly is, as they portray methodically their unrivaled, ever-growing production deftness. Condensing vocals has been one of the key elements jostling the UK-based duo’s sound, but in this case, they’re highly appreciative of the WWE’s lead vocalist, and instead meld a potpourri of outlandish percussion and saw-like synthwork to engineer a slightly tranquil, highly vivacious sonic scene. The minimal chopping of the vocals is palpable on the drop, and that provides a signature TC consistency we desire, followed by an unexpected deceleration towards the end that portrays yet another side of the act’s sound we’re continually raving about.
