When we had Trails and Ways here for a couple of shows last year, they told us about the hidden talent that lays in the Bay Area. And although they didn't outright mention Waterstrider, it goes without saying, because this Oakland-based act has been quietly dropping some very noteworthy music as of late. Most notably was their recent cover of Little Dragon's "Twice" that shot up to #1 on the Hype Machine popular charts. Today the group gets back on the horse to announce their new album and release the first single from it: "Redwood". "Redwood" won't need a #1 on Hype Machine to validate it's potency to you, because upon first listen, it will be impossible not to recognize the appealing nature of this song. It's radio-ready, but it's not overly produced in any sense. It's the perfect lead-off for their forthcoming album that will be available for free download in the coming months.
