When we had Trails and Ways here for a show back in May they spoke to us about how much talent there is just waiting to be discovered in the Bay Area. As we just found out today, in order to battle this and shed some light on some amazing unknown bands on the area, Trails and Way have initiated what they are calling the 'Non Market'. As stated on the Tumblr page, Non Market is: "1 musician writes about 1 musician every week, who then writes about another... and on & on. compilations every quarter. bay area, california. also diy records from bands in the community". As music bloggers we love this idea because the more music we help to un-earth, the better. As we all know some musicians just don't like to use the internet to promote their music, so that's where Non Market will come into play. You can bet we will be keeping an eye on their selections, that's for sure. The 5th selection today (yes we've missed a few) comes from astronauts, etc. who writes about the fellow Bay Area band, Waterstrider. Oddly enough taking a listen to their latest EP, it seems that we actually wrote about it last year. While that was pretty cool to find out, it was their debut EP, that was the one showcased.
