If we had it our way, the succession of male vocalists blowing up in the last two years would go something liks this: John Newman, Sam Smith, and now, VOYAGEUR. And while it may appear a tall order from the onlooker, if you were able to hear the latter's debut EP, you would be singing his praises just as much as we are here. Where VOYAGEUR differs from Sam and John Newman, though, is in much of the production and songwriting. There's no lovelorn subject matter (that we know of yet), rather; what we're hearing are vocals that match their amplitude, but too have production setting the London-based newcomer apart from the rest of the pack. Jon Green handles the huge electronic scenery on "Wasteland", the first of two tracks composing the miniature EP of VOYAGEURS, and it's a sound that's going to give the guy a leg up on the competition with its extraordinary crossover appeal. Like what we heard on VOYAGEUR's first body of work, the aforementioned "Wasteland", and the following effort, an acoustic, stripped-down track entitled "Pharaohs", are two additionally fantastic offerings from the new favourite of ours, and though they technically comprise an EP, we're eager to see bigger works of VOYAGEUR's in the future that incorporate the same magnificent sounds.
