Oddisee made a huge impact on 2012 with his long awaited debut album, People Hear What They See, that was released back in June. But it was the lead up EP, Odd Renditions that stole the show with Oddisee's verse on the Marvin Gaye sampled, "Ain't That Peculiar". The way Oddisee compiles his writing to fit in with his near-perfection rap cadence is truly incredible. It was this verse that immediately sticks out to me as the best verse in 2012. For convenience I have edited the track down to just the verse for your quick viewing. You can also grab the full song below for free. The whole EP is available on Bandcamp for 7$. Lyrics: I know the question that I'm asking & the answer ain't correct/ & if loving you is wrong well then the answer won't be yes/ so I'm lying to myself cause lying next to you the best/ every second in your presence, worth a minute of neglect/ but the minutes turn to hours & them hours turn to stress/ am I courageous or a coward that's unable to except/ that I'm here but you left, I'm mean we here but you ain't right/ yeah you right here but you ain't like/ with me, so I need to step/ You would think that moving on, wouldn't even be a sweat/ I mean yeah you do me wrong but I conveniently forget/ I just harbor on the better like what ever to the doubt/ when you try to plant a seed, I just see a weed in drought/ as you twist your lips to lie & it's leaving out your mouth/ I decide right then & there that I won't even here you out/ I know love is peculiar & you are even more so/ how you wear your heart on your wardrobe/ lord knows/
