This one is a bit out of left field is you're familiar with what her previous three releases sounded like, but we're always big fans of keeping things fresh here at Hillydilly, so for us, "Echo" is not only a good track, but a welcome reassurance that VÉRITÉ isn't just going to slide into the predictable circles of music as she gets more popular. The track, serving doubly her title for upcoming EP, Echo, is a blend of polyrhythmic goodness that's gaining traction in pop music right now, and the lighter, more ethereal tones that can only be achieved with a voice like hers. Despite the fact that she clearly has the big leagues locked in her sights, "Echo" doesn't seem to pander to people's expectations; rather it's the the kind of music that's going to differentiate her from the masses of other starlet hopefuls. While it's not exactly Sophie levels of weird, there are definitely some obscure influences at play, and at times, the track sounds like an acapella cover of itself. It's only after the introduction subsides that you'll pick up on the fact the she was going the road less traveled on purpose, so approach this one with an open mind, and you'll ensure yourself another interesting and enjoyable offering from the budding star. Echo will be released October 20th. Pre-orders are forthcoming.
