Vaults is one of those bands that has managed to turn heads not because they've found a sound that resonates with whatever is popular at the moment, but because they've crafted music that's just too good to be ignored. Yes, there's a lot of contemporary production techniques embedded in "Vultures" (and the rest of their work for that matter), but the obvious takeaway from their songs is the fact that each and every detail appears to have been meticulously crafted in much the same way you'd expect any other luxury product would be. Vaults is still probably within the realm of pop music, but they're not going to be the kind of band who's popularity fades with the changing tides of music taste. The piano that the track opens up with is reminiscent of the bright and airy notes and chimes that kicked off their debut single, "Cry No More"; however, this time around things are a lot more subdued, and instead of going for the hard-hitting lower-ends, they've opted instead to let the songwriting shine all by itself and pair up the lyrics with a more laid-back sonic backdrop. This new combo is a huge win for Vaults, and if you were wondering how they were going to pull things back for the softer side of their sound, then "Vultures" will answer all your questions. It's still an immensely powerful song, but it's also calm enough to be enjoyed when you're not int he mood for something too over the top. They've hit the mark with the effort, no doubt about it, and you know we're feasting for their upcoming body of work as a result. "Vultures" is the first track from their forthcoming EP due out in December.
