We have skipped every single Vampire Weekend track that has been released from their new album so far. Our snobbery will end today because we finally have heard a track from Modern Vampires of the City that fits our bill for being worthy of your ears. Chances are you've already heard the other single anyways, so you don't need us for that. It's clear that Vampire Weekend have changed up their sound with the three singles they have released so far ("Ya Hey", "Diane Young", "Step"). We haven't head the rest of the album of course, but from the sounds of it, VW have dropped off significantly from their over-the-top pop sound. On "Hudson" we find the band taking the slightly darker route, with the addition of haunting strings, dracula organs and spooky choirs. "Hudson" is a great balance between the old and the new.
