We've categorized electronic music, house music, chillwave, drum and bass, electro-pop, and the like. However, every once in a while, something comes along that simply can't be thrown into a genre (even a specific one). Today, that something is Until The Ribbon Breaks, an artist carrying music into realms previously unvisited. The Welshman has acquired a respectable amount of buzz through his debut EP (endorsed by Lorde), and has proceeded to build his status through remixes of Sam Smith, The Weeknd, and the mentioned songstress. And if his previous releases left you wanting more, then it's time to rejoice, because Until The Ribbon Breaks has finally debuted his fantastic new EP, The Other Ones. While you might have been skeptical of UTRB before (as you may be with most new artists), you can happily eliminate your doubts, because Until The Ribbon Breaks has made his immense talent more than just apparent. The EP starts with a bang; the first song, "A Taste of Silver", gets your heartbeat moving with its upbeat pace, infectious electronic touches, and stylish vocals. Afterwards, the tempo then slows down a bit with the chilling electronic ballad, "Goldfish", only to be picked back up again by the dance-provoking track, "Spark". Something absolutely marvelous happens in the fourth and final self-titled song, "Until The Ribbon Breaks", though, and to put this song into any sort of category is flat-out unfair, as there really isn't anything like it. The masterpiece begins with a segment of melancholy strings, bittersweet lyrics, and humbling electronic elements, all of which are suddenly stripped away, returned again, and then morphed into an optimistic melody, a holy moment of awe, and a combination of everything. The track is nothing short of breathtaking (and the EP is held in similarly high regard), so make sure you have a good listen to the whole EP below.
