When bands venture into the proverbial left field, the end result can either be a disaster, something weird, or something painfully average. Sometimes, though, we're treated with an end result that not only pushes the status quo, but ends up sounding rather spectacular. And in the case of the Brussels-based trio, ULYSSE, the ventures off the familiar path was a good idea, because as illustrated on their EP-highlight, "Wounds", we find elements of brooding electronic meshed with house-inspired drums, Brit-rock vocals, and unique instrumentation, providing a perfect balance of singularity without the yawns, so expect to be impressed.
