We've such an appreciation for artists and acts weaving in unique sounds into their sonic repertoire. The same cut-and-dry formulas can sound good at times, but, eventually, newer stuff has got to emerge for curiosity to be satisfied and intrigue, met. ULYSSE, a three-piece from Brussels, Belgium, has blessed us with some of these more unconventional-sounding songs over the (relatively) short duration of their existence (they've been around since 2013), and they have today a new track released from their forthcoming second EP, the title track, "Cashmere Guns", that's keeping our interest in them high. Released through Red Bull Elektropedia today, "Cashmere Guns" presents a medley of instruments underneath what layered and rather dynamic vocals appear. There are quite a bit of influences all wrapped up here, and the kind of urgent and unique tones that emerge really provide an appealing listen that still sounds new. That's pretty rare, but it's something that these three have done rather well. Cashmere Guns will be out Monday, October 19.
