Twiggy Lashes. — Dunes

Twiggy Lashes.

Dunes

As we draw closer to the latter end of the season, we’ve noticed that there has been a distinct collection of sunlit gems portrayed in several different styles on HD. Twiggy Lashes has decided to join the affair, it appears, as the duo gives their unwinding, toned-down take on the season. Collaborations don’t really get more distant than this, as Australian-based beatmaker Jad Lee complements his syrupy production skills with LA-resident Sami Freeman’s tranquilly perforating vocals. The two came into being almost a year ago, and still aren’t even near the vicinity of the attention they deserve, but in our opinion, that’s far from their main goal of creating exciting, unorthodox tunes. “Dunes” is the duo’s latest release, and it delivers in almost all facets, making for an ideal listen no matter where their sound originates. Unhurried chord progressions accompanied by chiming percussive elements initiate the piece, as Lee sets a flawless stage for Sami to navigate through the mellow environment in the best possible way. The latter's spine-chilling vocals are further driven by the ardent songwriting of hers, and Jad’s continued contributions give the piece an unrivaled character. The chorus is highly addictive, too, but far from nucleus of the track, as both calmly portray their talents to give us a delicious, unforgettable fusion of chillwave and indie-pop.
