TV On The Radio

Happy Idiot

Brooklyn-based TV On The Radio (TVOTR) is back again with their first single since 2011, and it comes off their upcoming album, Seeds, that's set to drop November 18th. "Happy Idiot" is the name of the track, and it commands attention with an immediate burst of rapid synth percussion that's followed shortly thereafter by the smooth vocals of lead singer Tunde Adebimpe. The song maintains the distinct blend of timbres that TVOTR is known for—while still managing to sound much more mainstream than past tracks—and, advocating an "ignorance is bliss" message, we're given a solid reminder on how to shut someone out of our brains—an action we all can't practice enough, quite frankly. With a beat to dance around recklessly to, and a hook to sing along with, "Happy Idiot" could be a (joyous) breakup anthem of 2014 to balance out all the stereotypical sad ones that we've come across already. Naturally, we'll be looking forward to what other gifts TV will be boasting on their new album this fall, but for now, we'll be spending some quality time with their latest effort below. Their new album, Seeds, will be released on November 18th via Harvest Records. Pre-order via iTunes.
