Whatever you do, don't let the debut album from Tunng sneak away on you. In a week where we saw Yeezus dominate, UK's Tunng were holding it down the indie/folk end of the music spectrum with their fifth album, Turbines. Leading up to the release of Turbines was their first single, "So Far From Here", that really kicked off everything in the right way. From the heart-warming nature of "So Far From Here", it was impossible to not love this song. Truth be told, it was the first time I was introduced to the group, so needless to say it left a very good impression on me. Whether you are hearing Tunng for the first time or this is your fifth journey with the band, it makes no difference because it's all going to be good to the same ears anyways. While it's true that I can't compare Turbines to older albums, what I can tell you is that Turbines is a great album regardless of what you're comparing it to. Sometimes folk music can be a tad bit boring, but with Tunngs' unique blend of abstract electronic sounds & interchanging harmonizing vocals, there is nothing left but high levels of enjoyability to be had.
