Since releasing their stunning debut, "A Place To Call Home", on us six months ago, the UK-based songwriting and producing duo, Traces, has remained relatively silent, electing to take their time with their music and let their creative juices ripen. When you release the kind of song that "A Place To Call Home" is, there's no doubt that there's going to be some slight pressure to match the artistic input, but with their second-ever track, "Obstacles", that attention to detail and patience for quality is plainly apparent by the two, as the new effort is another great one to add to their newly forming and excellently sharping resume. Boasting filter sweep-driven pads and multi-layered, arpeggiating arrangements, the sonic side of "Obstacles" sees an elegant setting placed for the lead vocalist to apply quite the gut-wrenching emotion to the melancholic ballad. The track's definitely not something to suit your upbeat moments, but rather, those introspective times when all you want to do is contemplate life, so use accordingly.
