TOTEM — Columbia

TOTEM

Columbia

TOTEM makes dark synth-pop, and if that sounds like the kind of music you'd enjoy listening to, then this newest release of his is a must-listen. It's got a methodical rhythm, but "Columbia" never feels overly slow. This is the case because of the silky vocals that act as the perfect compliment to the low buzz of the bass line, and also because of the muted beats that pop their head above the static every so often. "Columbia" is only the fourth official release from the artist, but his sound has already developed a complexity that really makes itself apparent in the second-half of the track, especially. The background harmonies that fade in and out give the whole effort a distinctly eerie feel, and everything is tied up nicely by the end to form what is probably one of the better tracks this week has had to offer. If you aren't already a TOTEM fan, then go check out the rest of the man's work. Chances are you'll find a couple new tracks to keep on repeat while you wait for more new material from this up-and-coming producer.
