If you’re still foreign to Tomas Barfod‘s work, his upcoming album, Love Me, would be your best option to leap in and explore his sound, as it features HD-familiar acts such as Nina K, Sleep Party People, and a couple more. The album drops on the 9th of June via Secretly Canadian, and promises to be a truly encompassing experience in terms of Tomas’ maturation as a creator. Now, though, we’d like to shift our focus onto this week’s most popular artist, Pell; and if you’ve been saturated in the lyricist’s work lately, you probably stumbled upon a Barfod-produced piece entitled “Eleven:11“, which should be enough to give you a scent of what these two talents can cook up in tandem. Tomas’ immaculate assistance on Pell’s piece was nothing short of addicting, and it was inevitable we’d see the roles switch at some point, as Pell’s vocals aid the Danish titan on one of his album gems here highlighted, “Lost”. A plodding, well-crafted drum beat gently embraces Pell’s voice, and as it evolves, we see inclusions of frolic synths to discharge a rather joyous mood. Pell doesn’t force the issue on his part, and let’s the beat do the talking, making his presence felt in timely fashion. Tomas goes on to spray a plethora gripping percussion on the tune, but is also very delicate in his execution, as he applies each coat only when desired. The piece doesn’t require a time or place to listen to it, and with its memorable chorus and youthful tone, we would be surprised if you grew weary of it at all. Stream Love Me via Pitchfork Advance.
