Toxic

This is a Brittany Spears song, but it's a remix of a cover by Yael Naim, too, so don't be expecting anything that would be making the rounds on your average Top 40 station. This right here is an even darker reinterpretation of what the French songstress did a couple years ago to the already "edgy" pop song, and the result is something both very fresh, and almost completely different from what it was based on. It's downtempo, but the vocal modulation and the beat make it feel like it's hitting harder than the soft production work wold have you believe. In fact, when coupled with this sound, the lyrics seem to fit better than they do with the original mix. We've covered thvn here before, but "Toxic" represents a huge departure in style for him. That being said, this is definitely a win in our book, and just goes to show that when you're a talented producer, there's not a lot of material unable to be turned into good sound.
