Thomston seems to have perfected generating the kind of understated buzz that most artists can only dream of building. His music is quietly brilliant, and his brand and release schedules have mirrored that perfectly. When you hear "Grey", his second track taken from his upcoming EP, Backbone, you'll get whiffs of old-school pop production work, but there's nothing antiquated about what he's doing with the singles leading up to his aforementioned third work. We're as enthusiastic as ever about what's in store for one of the most anticipated pop newcomers on the market today. "Grey" is, yet again, another specimen of top-notch lyrical production, and while the story he weaves with his words can be cryptic at times, you're never left with any doubt that each and every syllable was put there for a purpose. When paired with the stark, almost harsh, synth sweeps and echoed percussion, Thomston delivers a listening experience that is all at once unique and very much within the sonic brand he's built over the last year. We're definitely fans of the track, and we recommend that you give it some extra airtime on your favorite HD playlist after checking it out initially below. Backbone will be released April 6.
