We've seen contemporary R&B morph into many sonic molds, and brand-new duo THEY. is ushering in their own shade of the sound with debut EP Nü Religion. Having signed with budding indie label Mind of a Genius Records, the two seem ready with the work to make a sizable impact on the scene, and we're suspecting that that's exactly what they'll do. Within the three-piece EP, efforts "Motley Crue" and "Bad habits" do more than a good job in giving us insight into the duo's sonic intentions. Gritty instrumentation centered by raw drums and tantalizing plucks make up the backdrops on both tracks, and the dominant, cadence-changing vocals on each are memorable as well. Nü Religion, as a whole, is quite a strong start for the duo, and if they creative minds behind it continue carving out their own sound, they'll be able to last for quite some time.
