If you haven't heard of Thelma Plum until this very second, you're not alone. The nineteen-year-old just came to our attention today, and from what we've been able to figure out, she's been releasing music for two years, she's two EPs out, and she's based in Brisbane, Australia. We're unable to talk on her past projects because, quite frankly, we didn't know of them, but we're going to pick up our slack with her recently released EP, Monsters, that was produced by the legendary M-Phazes (an individual known for his high-quality hip-hop productions). The bulk of the Monsters is very cinematic; it features tons of orchestral elements alongside reverb-heavy percussion, and like the expertly less-is-more production outlook that all the best producers use (listen to Rick Rubin's material for classical examples), the spacing and minimalist approach taken here is absolutely perfect for Thelma to champion each track with her commanding tone and flawless poise. There are only four tracks on the the project, but each sounds like it was meticulously crafted for years, and as far as perfection goes, this body of work is one that's brushing up against it. You don't hear many EPs that are this good throughout, so definitely make sure you check out the contents of it below.
