The Ugly Club has been grooving for some time, and though it’s just now that we’re latching on to their fresh flavor of indie-pop, it’s a proper effort in “The Lonely” that’s brought their sounds to the HD pages. They’ve a couple of EPs under their belt, and it appears that with the employment of co-producer Abe Seiferth, their newest is quite the intriguing package. After setting its tone with a mildly nu-disco feel, the work finds its own as the vocals of Ryan Egan and Taylor Mandel coalesce with both guitar and eclectic-sounding synths by the rest of the New York four-piece. Of course, we are dealing with a seasoned group in them all, so this wonderful sound comes as no huge surprise, but it's still nice to see steps of prominence being taken, and here with "The Lonely", we hear them taking one loud and clear.
