It's been far too long since we last heard from New York and New Jersey four-piece The Ugly Club, as their last release was eight lengthy months ago when they shared the upbeat indie-pop of "The Lonely". Today, though, we're greatly relieved to have finally received new material from the group, and it's arrived in the form of an outstanding new single called "Cocoon". With its free-flowing structure, "Cocoon" is a highly immersive, less poppy piece that puts this group's musical mastery high up on a podium—especially during the purely instrumental last minute and a half of the song. We're impressed by how seamlessly they blend electronic elements with more traditional sounds, and, although we aren't sure when we can expect more similarly attractive tunes from them, we know we'll be giving this latest one more than a few plays to tide us over until that time comes.
