The Subs have been an unrelenting force in the club scene for the better part of a decade with their distinctive brand of playfully aggressive techno. As Jeroen, Wiebe, and Hadrien travelled the world, melting the faces off of unsuspecting punters, they became acquainted with other purveyors of the electronic art form and the inevitable "we should do something together" conversations took place. Whereas most of these agreements are empty pipe dreams borne out of a drunken stupor, The Subs have followed through with their release of a double EP titled simply, Collaborations, earlier this year, featuring collaborative efforts from the likes of techno heavyweights, John Roman, Zombie Nation, Alex Gopher, and Shinichi Osawa. The first of the two EPs opens with a collaborative effort entitled "The Moment to Give" that sees work from the French electronic virtuoso, Etienne de Crécy. The collusion with Etienne gives the track a distinct French house edge, setting it apart from the techno, dance-floor destroyers that complete the remainder of the EP. The infectious vocal track, provided by Jeroen himself, blissfully glides through the electronic arcade of pulsing bass and house synths, spawning one of the dirtiest tech-house jams we have heard this year.
