It's particularly rare for us to come across worthwhile material on particular music mediums we peruse, so, needless to say, it's always exciting when we do stumble upon something good. The Sandcherries, a fairly new four-piece act from Paris, France (their name is pretty epic, we've got to admit), is the lot we came across a short while ago, and, with the first track off their self-titled debut EP, we're pretty sure they're in possession of a sound you'll find reasons to love. The five-minute, thirty-second affair, "L'échappée", is going to be right at home with fans of old Portugal. The Man and fans of psychedelic-sounding indie-rock as well. The lyrics are sung in a hybrid language, sure, but the chorus backing them is absolutely superb, and what instrumentation aligns itself with it all is also great. This is surely an effort that won't be too hard for anyone to take an interest in (it's a bit cult-ish-sounding, but it does have slight mainstream appeal), and, if you're digging it, we seriously, seriously encourage you to check out the other three that appear on the aforementioned body of work.
