The Roots are the staple of quality hip-hop and have been so for the last decade. They return on Dec 6th with 'undun', their 13th studio album. While their last few albums have been spotty in terms of having a top to bottom astounding album, 'undun', however does a remarkable job in being the type of album that only requires one touch of the play button. 'Undun' is described by the band as a concept album that is sort of a novel in audio form. Questlove states "Undun is the story of this kid who becomes criminal, but he wasn’t born criminal. He’s not the nouveau exotic primitive bug-eyed gunrunner like Tupac’s character Bishop in Juice… he’s actually thoughtful and is neither victim nor hero.
