THE RIOT is channeling the theatrical tension of early-2010s alt-R&B — think The Weeknd's Trilogy filtered through a more cinematic sensibility. Violence earns its title through production that builds slowly, drums arriving late, bass eventually swallowing the room. It's a controlled unraveling. Not for every mood, but when it fits it's undeniable.
