Jungle has been on a roll recently with their debut album getting everybody excited about the kind of funky electronic music that nobody knew they secretly craved. With that being the case, it was inevitable that they were going to attract more than their fair share of remixes and covers, but despite the increased attention the band was getting, we never saw this one coming. The Night VI (the artistic perpetrators here) has always been on point when it comes to understated music composition, and whatever they touch always comes out smelling like roses. Their Frank Ocean cover that was released a while back evidence this, and since, then they've put out a couple of pristine originals that have solidified their place as one of the best new indie groups to look out for and enjoy. On their effort here, there's a much more natural and toned-down version of what Jungle originally crafted, and the warm, gassy undertones that permeated the original have been swapped out for a cold crispness that spends much of its time in the higher registers of the sounds spectrum. The transformation works, though, and whatever allegiances you had to the original will have to be OK with sharing some playtime with this version, because The Night VI absolutely killed the cover.
