The Night VI has been a pretty consistent fixture when it comes to features here on HD, and since we always evaluate each song by its own merit, the fact that the band's graced our new release feed on multiple occasions says a lot for their consistency and commitment to quality music. Their debut EP, DIY, is a compilation of songs both familiar and new, and if you were at all on their side over the last year, you're going to love what they've done with their first foray into the world of multi-track releases. You've probably already heard some of the songs on the track list here, but that doesn't mean "Sienna", "Heroine", and 'Wonderlust" have lost any of their shine. Each of those pieces still pull as much weight as they did when they first came out, and the EP would be sorely lacking if they weren't a part of the complete package. As far as new songs go,"Fears" will be the only new track up for stream. "Gunshot", their second new song from the EP's lineup, will be available later on, but you'll still be able to listen to it now if you can get yourself to one of their shows. The Physical EP will feature the complete list of songs, and if you manage to get your hands on one, you'll be able to listen to "Gunshot" in all it's slow-burning glory right away. If you're not local to one of their tour dates, however, don't worry. If you're patient, you'll get to enjoy it once it gets uploaded online. To wrap, DIY is one of those EPs that doesn't really come as a surprise or shock you with it's killer music. However, that's not because the band is lacking on any level. In fact, the EP's predictability stems from the fact that the Night VI has been so consistently good this past year that their debut project's amazing sound seems more like the final piece of a puzzle than a surprise win. Each and every song on the project is a fun listen, and when you enjoy them all in one sitting, you're in for a very special listening experience indeed.
