We latched on to The Masks' soulful sound in early 2014, applauding their mellowed tone with their debut, “Midnight” a track that followed sonically the theme of its title. Now, with Valentine’s Day right around the corner (or, midnight [see how nicely that worked out?]), they’ve provided us with “I Wanna Be Your Lover”, a conveniently titled track for the holiday that happens to be a great one. Here we've one of those efforts where we’re constantly waiting for a culmination that never comes, as the group manages to replace their heavier notes with simplistic, smoother sections that bridge the gaps between verses and further hone in on The Masks’ ethereal tone. They’ve a couple of featured English artists in Cameron Bloomfield and Kyra on the piece with them, too, and they all prove to be great additions to this fine third release from the group.
