The newest inclusion to our HD discovery series is the Parisian beatmaker, The Last Port, who just dropped his sophomore EP, Old Memories. The EP features four tracks, but today we're highlighting our favourite from it: “SKIES”. The echoing vocals from the very onset of the track makes it instantly immersive, and its filtered percussive elements only add to its mediative nature. The raw, long-released bass notes make quite an early appearance in the track, but that’s far from a downside, as TLP cleverly fluctuates the pace of the piece, almost giving it an extemporary feel. It's clear that the vocal cut is the prominent element within the effort, but with the incorporation of astute filters and effects, acoustic instrumentation, and infinite percussive inclusions, you’ll simply forget the fact that you heard the same two syllables for over three minutes.
