Whenever you hear music being coined "world music" it will always be followed by assumptions that the music would be considered boring. But with The Herd this could not be more of a terrible assumption. Their sound is an eclectic conglomeration of diverse instrumentation from piano accordion's, wood winds, brass and samples used from many styles of international music in the forms of tango, mariachi and blues rock. For the vocals The Herd enlists Aussie veteran emcees Urthboy and Ozi Batla who keep their subject matter on a relevant thin line by reflecting a reality with no filter to appease the machine. The cherry on top for The Herd is the amazing female vocalist, Jane Tyrrell. She is easily one of my personal favorite vocalists in the world and is always a treat to listen to. The end result is a air tight box of musical truth that will stand the test of time. Future Shade is now available on itunes, so please go buy this album and support good music.
