Ukrainian act The Erised first made an appearance here with "Pray", and, ever since, we've had a watchful eye on the six-piece band. Today, with their brand-new single, "In My Car", they're exhibiting a soothing but more electronic-oriented pop sound. With Sonya Sukorukova leading the vocal front, there's not much to complain about, as her voice is the emanating factor on the track with the instrumental playing a more nuanced yet crucial role. That fact far from depreciates the effort put into the production though, as sawed chord progressions and snap-inducing drum sequences ride flawlessly beside the vocals that Sonya puts forth. The effort as a whole provides a nice progressive snapshot of where the band is now as far as their sound is concerned, and, given its appeal, we hope that future tracks will engender similar reason to be intrigued.
