Before we engross ourselves into one of the four official remixes of The Aston Shuffle’s protruding piece from the album, Photographs, let’s reiterate the fact that there’s no stopping the Aussie duo’s imminent prosperity. Alongside additionally rising acts such as Just A Gent, the voyage into sonic experimentation is immeasurable, and what we see with the latter's remix of the formers "Back & Forth" only verifies this fact. We’ve already delved into the high-octane, enlivening Photographs, and amongst our front-runners for favorite tracks was one that featured Elizabeth Rose, “Back & Forth”, that incorporated a familiar disco-inspired structure, a selection of delectable percussion, and the accompaniment of Rose’s delicate vocals to help induce a shiny, stylized vibe. Age isn’t something we always refer to in relation to an artist, but when Just A Gent continually concocts and refashions tunes as effortlessly as he does, it leaves us in complete awe, because the teen is fluttering prosperously in his métier. On “Back & Forth", the Newcastle-native harvests a few addictive cuts of Rose’s verses, and propels them with sudden warping effects and arpeggiating synths to assist in the track's eventual, exhilarating detonation. The guy's ability to dumbfound listeners is near incomparable, and the drop on this remix shows us why, as he implements a clean, powerful chainsaw synth (driven by yet another fresh drum sequence) to aid in an atmosphere rather distinct to the original, yet appropriate in its own setting here. It's something pretty spectacular, all he's able to do with The Aston Shuffle and Elizabeth Rose's fine original track, but we've every reason to be expecting such sonic amazement from Just A Gent going forward. His talent is ripening, and widespread success, if not already tasted a time or two, beckons.
